The Postgraduate Program in Psychology began its activities in 1978. During the 1980s and 1990s, in view of regional needs and the importance of psychology and health studies, it was established in the area of concentration of "health psychology" . The Postgraduate Program - Master's and Doctorate in Health Psychology - linked to the Faculty of Health, is the only one in the country that deals specifically with issues common to Psychology and Health, defined as the application of knowledge and methods of psychology to use In health promotion and maintenance, in the prevention of diseases and in the improvement of the system of public policies in the area of Health.
Thus, all the knowledge produced in the area of Health Psychology has proved to be important and of interest for the entire area of health.

The postgraduate program in Health Psychology, master's and doctorate, aims to train new researchers and teachers in Health Psychology and raise new questions, deepen and reflect on the knowledge of psychology that aim to contribute to health objectives: Promotion and protection of health in all contexts, prevention and treatment of diseases and all kinds of behaviors and related dysfunctions.

Reissue, with amendments, Resolution CONSUN No. 38/2011, which deals with the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulation
The University Council - CONSUN, in an extraordinary meeting held on October 9, 2014, deliberating on case No. 45/14, forwarded by the Pro-Rectory of Graduate Studies and Research,
Resolve:
Art. 1 Reissues the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations, as shown in the annex.
Art. 2º This Resolution shall enter into force on the date of its signature, revoked the provisions to the contrary.
